The Samaritan Center participated in the county-wide count today to ensure the unhoused in Simi Valley are counted. We counted those we are aware of, including our current clients and those we just met. We listened to them compassionately as they told their stories and experiences of their current, unhoused situation. We handed out basic essential items including water, food, gloves, socks and toiletries.
The purpose of the Point-in-Time (PIT Count) is to obtain a snapshot census of people experiencing homelessness in the Ventura County area in a designated 24-hour period.
The data collected during the count is critical in helping demonstrate the need for services and funding in Ventura County, including Simi Valley.
