Meet Kim! Kim is this month's Client Feature at the Samaritan Center!
Kim had been coming to the Samaritan Center for many years prior to experiencing homelessness, regularly visiting the food pantry. She is also a cancer survivor, having navigated significant health challenges before facing housing instability. In the summer of 2025, Kim’s life changed unexpectedly when she was forced out of her home due to flooding repairs. This sudden displacement led to a traumatic period of homelessness and she began living out of her vehicle. Remembering that the Samaritan Center offers homeless supportive services in addition to food assistance, Kim reached out for help.

She was soon connected with a Samaritan Center caseworker, who provided consistent guidance and support through case management. Through this partnership, Kim was connected to additional organizations and vital resources, including Whole Person Care and United Way, to help address her health and housing needs.
Before this period of housing instability, Kim had also spent a brief time in a rehabilitation facility. During her stay, she offered supportive counseling to others and shared encouragement with individuals facing similar challenges. Being able to uplift others during difficult seasons became deeply meaningful to her, and it remains something she is passionate about today.
With the ongoing support of her caseworker and community partners, Kim was able to secure housing on December 23, 2025, and is no longer experiencing homelessness. After she was housed, the Samaritan Center continued to support her transition by delivering pantry boxes, blankets, and household items, and by assisting with the move out of the vehicle where she had been sleeping. Today, Kim is safe, housed, and focused on moving forward. She encourages others who are experiencing homelessness not to give up and not
to be afraid to reach out for resources, including the Samaritan Center.
Thank you for sharing your story, Kim!
