Meet Isabel! Isabel is our Monthly Client Feature at the Samaritan Center!

Born and raised in Ventura, Isabel's path brought her back to Simi Valley after spending several years in Arizona. But when she returned, she faced an unexpected hardship: she couldn’t find stable housing and was forced to live out of her vehicle. Over time, the strain of living in her car took a toll on her health and wellbeing.

Over a year ago, Isabel found her way to the Samaritan Center. She began working one-on-one with a caseworker and received vital support that helped carry her through a challenging time. Gas cards helped her get to essential appointments, and access to showers and laundry services brought a sense of comfort and dignity. She also received assistance to obtain a new phone to stay connected and was even provided a hotel voucher when health issues made it unsafe to continue sleeping in her car.

Through her time at the Center, Isabel also found connections with other individuals navigating similar struggles and with a community that cared. In her words, “Have hope and help will come.”

Today, we are thrilled to share that Isabel has been safely housed for three months! The Samaritan Center was able to provide assistance for her first month’s rent and deposit, and she now has a place to call home. Though the recent loss of her beloved dog, Chloe, was deeply painful, Isabel continues to look forward with strength and gratitude.

At the Samaritan Center, Isabel says she feels “very positive” and we are just as hopeful and proud to have walked alongside her in this journey.

Thank you for sharing your story, Isabel!
