John is a retired sergeant with the LAPD; his commitment to serve others is still strong. He began to give his time to the Samaritan Center this summer and volunteers three times a week, assisting with the preparation and distribution of pantry food boxes!
John was introduced to the Center because his wife Christine is involved with Simi at the Garden’s free farmer’s market. John would stop by to donate the Simi garden’s crops. Because of his commitment to give back, he soon began to volunteer. John is immensely helpful and a steady presence. He says that his favorite part about volunteering is the people! With volunteering, relationships are formed: from the camaraderie of the pantry team to a simple “good morning” from someone in the pantry line.
When he is not volunteering, John enjoys spending time with his family, and especially enjoys cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events! Thanks for everything, John!
