It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Hughes, our esteemed Board member and an integral part of our organization for over 30 years.

As the longest serving member of our Board of Directors, Grace dedicated herself to the mission and vision of the Samaritan Center which is to offer Simi Valley residents experiencing housing and food insecurities supportive services essential to human dignity; leaving an enduring legacy of her leadership, passion, and service.

One of Grace's passions was coordinating the PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) program for the Samaritan Center, maintaining a winter sleep program for the unhoused that runs seven nights a week, from November to March. This program provides a warm, safe, sleep environment for the unhoused in Simi Valley.

Beyond her tenure and achievements, Grace will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her compassion, and the deep respect she held for our community. She exemplified the values we hold dear, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we extend our deepest condolences to Grace’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. Please join us in honoring her extraordinary life and lasting contributions to our community.

Details regarding memorial arrangements will be shared as they become available.

With deepest sympathy,

Daniel Peña

President, Board of Directors
